Case Study
Transforming Maternal Health through Nutrition Intervention
Inspiring Story

Saroj Kol (28), a lactating mother from Sagmaniya village, Satna (Madhya Pradesh), was diagnosed with severe anemia during a routine screening under Birla Corporation Limited’s CSR Mother & Child Care Program, implemented by PECSS. Her hemoglobin level was critically low at 7.0 g/dl, causing extreme weakness and health risks for both mother and child.
Intervention Included:
- Regular home visits and health monitoring
- Personalized counseling on iron-rich, balanced diets
- Promotion of locally available nutrient-dense foods like Moringa (Drumstick)
- Distribution of nutrition kits
- Participation in health awareness sessions
Impact : Her hemoglobin level improved remarkably from 7.0 g/dl to 13.8 g/dl. Saroj is now healthier, energetic, and confidently managing her household and childcare responsibilities. This transformation highlights how timely nutrition intervention and community-based support can significantly improve maternal health outcomes.
