Empowering Women through Livelihood Support

Inspiring Story

Monu Verma from Birahuli village, Satna (Madhya Pradesh), belongs to a financially vulnerable family of six. With her husband’s irregular daily wage income and elderly in-laws requiring care, meeting basic needs was a constant struggle. Despite challenges, Monu was determined to support her family and become financially independent.

Under Birla Corporation Limited’s BCL Livelihood Support Program (2022–23), she received financial assistance of ₹10,000 to start a small home-based cosmetics business.

  • Earning ₹6,000–₹7,000 per month through her enterprise
  • Improved household stability and better support for children’s needs
  • Enhanced confidence, decision-making power, and self-respect
  • Inspiring other village women to pursue self-employment

Monu’s journey reflects how timely CSR support can transform not just income levels, but dignity, confidence, and hope at the grassroots level.
