Anemia Screening & Management

Strengthening Maternal and Adolescent Health

Anemia continues to silently impact maternal health, adolescent growth, and overall community productivity—especially in rural and tribal areas. To confront this challenge head-on, Priyanshi Educational, Cultural and Social Society (PECSS) has implemented a large-scale Anemia Screening & Management initiative focused on early detection, treatment, and sustained nutrition support.

Over 150,000 individuals have been screened, with special attention to:

  • Pregnant women
  • Lactating mothers
  • Adolescent girls

Systematic Screening & Early Detection

The program conducts structured hemoglobin testing at the community level to:

  • Identify mild, moderate, and severe anemia cases
  • Provide immediate counseling
  • Ensure timely referrals to health facilities

Early diagnosis prevents complications such as maternal mortality, low birth weight, fatigue, and impaired cognitive development among adolescents.

Comprehensive Management & Nutrition Support

Screening is only the first step. PECSS ensures continuity of care through:

  • Nutrition counseling at household level
  • Iron and folic acid supplementation support
  • Distribution of nutritious household food kits
  • Follow-up monitoring for recovery progress

This integrated approach strengthens dietary practices and encourages long-term behavior change within families.

Alignment with National Priorities

The initiative aligns closely with Anemia Mukt Bharat, contributing to national efforts aimed at reducing anemia prevalence among women and adolescents.

By integrating screening, awareness, supplementation, and referral systems, the program supports:

  • Improved maternal health outcomes
  • Healthier adolescent development
  • Greater awareness of preventive nutrition
  • Stronger community-level health systems

Impact Beyond Numbers

Anemia is not just a medical condition—it affects education, productivity, and intergenerational health.

Through sustained outreach and systematic follow-up, PECSS is not only reducing anemia rates but also building a culture of preventive healthcare and informed nutrition practices.

When mothers are healthier and adolescents are stronger, communities move forward with resilience and confidence.
